13 Fun Fall Events Near Birmingham, AL (2019 Edition)

Looking for a Birmingham festival or some type of exciting family activity this fall? 2019 MotoAmerica Championship of Alabama

From September 20 to 22, Barber Motorsports Park (Leeds, AL) hosts the year’s hottest motorcycle-racing event. On Friday, September 20, guests can attend for free to watch racers qualify. On Saturday and Sunday, on-track action begins! This family-friendly event near Birmingham also features a Kids’ Zone, carnival games, bounce houses, motorcycle stunt shows, and a special “Learn To Ride” program for the young’uns.

Head Over Teal Fall Festival

On September 21, head over to Hoover for the 10th annual Head Over Teal Fall Festival, a free Hoover event for the whole family. Activities include live music, a “crazy photo booth,” inflatables, arts and crafts, face-painting, and more.

If you’d like to join one of the 5k or 10k races to benefit the Laura Crandall Brown Foundation, you can sign up here. Otherwise, just pack some snacks and water into your Crosstrek, and enjoy a full day of fall fun starting around 8:30 AM.

Fiesta 2019

Back for the 17th year, Fiesta 2019 is bigger and better than ever. As Alabama’s largest celebration of Hispanic culture and heritage, this Birmingham fall event will be hosted at Linn Park from noon to 8:00 PM on September 28. More than 15,000 patrons are expected to visit, so grab those tickets soon!

28th Annual Whistle Stop Festival

If you want to avoid the large Fiesta crowds, bring the gang to the Whistle Stop Festival in Leeds, AL, on September 28. The Outlet Shops of Grand River will host this year’s free festival, which will feature entertainment for the entire family, great local food, drinks, and kids’ activities.

Birmingham Greek Festival

From October 3 to 5, Birmingham becomes Greece — Opa! This year’s three-day Greek Festival will treat 30,000-plus guests to authentic Greek cuisine, outdoor seating, live music, dancing, costumes, and much more. It’s one of the most revered fall events in Birmingham. Park your vehicle for free near Liberty National, or swing through the drive-thru line to place your food order.

15th Annual Barber Vintage Festival

Motorcycle enthusiasts rejoice! Autumn seems to be the ideal season for y’all, as there are two incredible Birmingham events to satiate your need for speed. After your MotoCross trip, head to Birmingham’s Barber Village Festival at the Barber Motorsports Parkway for more excitement. The Barber Vintage Festival runs from October 4 to 6 and features a GEICO Swap Meet, Ace Corner, Fan Zone, and special races.

Birmingham Oktoberfest 2019

Lederhosen: check. Bavarian suspenders: check. Now, just load your Subaru Outback with the whole family, and get to exploring this year’s Birmingham Oktoberfest! Held at Railroad Park on October 5, this annual Birmingham fall festival is every strudel-loving, brat-eating, jig-dancing person’s idea of fun. Don’t miss out.

Jurassic Quest

Between October 11 and 13, Birmingham Jefferson Convention Center transforms into the largest dinosaur exhibit in America. Walk through the arena to meet skyscraper-like dinosaurs, dig up fossils, pet a baby Triceratops, conduct science experiments, and more. You won’t find more realistic dinosaurs outside of Hollywood.

Dog Days at Discovery

The 3rd annual Dog Days event will be held on October 12, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, at Discover UMC in Hoover, AL. Free for people and pooches, Dog Days will provide entertainment, a dog obstacle course, activities for the whole family, a pet costume contest, doggy treats, and loads more. You can even find a pup to adopt!

Talladega SuperSpeedway Races

Drive east of our Birmingham Subaru dealership for a weekend of heart-pounding action at Talladega SuperSpeedway this fall. On October 12 and 13, some of the world’s best NASCAR drivers will compete in the 1000Bulbs.com 500 and Sugarlands Shine 250 races. Pack all the camping gear into your Subaru Forester and spend the weekend at the racetrack.

Trucks by the Tracks

Head to Railroad Park on October 13 to get a sample from Birmingham’s best food trucks! We’re talking about gourmet grilled cheeses, fresh po’ boys, hot chicken wings, Italian ice, tacos, and more. Bring an empty stomach and enjoy the most delicious food Birmingham has to offer (plus live bands).

What’s happening at the Helena Amphitheater on October 20? Barktoberfest, of course! Run by Two by Two Rescue, Barktoberfest offers families a great opportunity to visit and meet adoptable dogs, as well as low-cost vaccines and microchips. An off-leash dog park is the perfect place for dogs to socialize, and there are numerous family-friendly activities scheduled, including a bounce house, face-painting, bake sale, and photo booth.

Moss Rock Festival

One of the best Hoover events this fall is the Moss Rock Festival. Hosted at The Preserve on November 2 and 3, this outdoor festival will welcome over 10,000 visitors with its incredible artwork displays, live music, guided hikes, gardens, sweet treats, and much more.
