Say Hello to the All-New 2019 Subaru Ascent

Say Hello to the All-New 2019 Subaru Ascent

“…Subaru’s AWD architecture is the best of its kind, functionally superior to on-demand all-wheel drive systems.” – Dan Neil, The Wall Street Journal.

“…the Ascent’s impressive blend of safety and value is unmatched by many rivals.”Jennifer Geiger, Cars.com.

“The three-row SUV many families need in the Subaru wrapper they want.”Joseph Capparella, Car and Driver.

Coming straight out of Boilermaker country and finding its way to our shiny Birmingham dealership showroom, the new 3-row Subaru Ascent has seen plenty of praise from critics and Subaru aficionados alike. Deservingly so, as this fabulous SUV is quite a departure from the standard crossover you see on the road. Luxurious on the outside yet awash in Subaru-quality features inside, the 2019 Ascent is one family-sized SUV you can rely on.

A Superior Cabin is the Ascent’s Biggest Strength

As Subaru’s largest vehicle, the 2019 Ascent is essentially a steroided-out version of its best-selling Outback wagon—which is a definite positive. (We’d actually be surprised if the Ascent isn’t in the running for a few “Best SUV” awards by the end of the year.)

Yes, it has much more passenger room than rival SUVs. With 153.5 total cubic feet in the cabin, the Subaru Ascent beats out competitors like the Honda Pilot, Toyota Highlander, and Volkswagen Atlas. You’ll never have problems finding room inside this Subaru SUV.

Yes, it seats seven or eight, depending on your choice of second-row captain’s chairs or bench seat. In fact, the 2019 Ascent SUV is so accommodating, even three child car seats can fit. The reclining second-row bench slides back and forth, allowing you to access the rear with ease. Just step in, spring the bench forward, and the third row is at your disposal.

Yes, it’s also rich in features. You’ll find 8 USB ports—you read that right—across all rows, a panoramic moonroof, WiFi, standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a ridiculous 19 cupholders, automated emergency brakes, and lane-departure warning. Plus, the 2019 Ascent features convenient Latch anchors, a 17.8-cubic-foot cargo area beyond the third row, and a hidden underfloor storage bin with clever Velcro covers.

Pure Power You Must Experience

Pure Power You Must Experience

Subaru’s new 2.4L turbo-4 is a no-hesitation, anti-boring, full-blooded powerhouse. Built horizontally to incite engine rumble rather than whimpers, this BOXER® flat-four makes 260 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque, allowing it to tow up to 5000 pounds—a feat that most full-size SUVs haven’t yet accomplished. Low-end power is extraordinary and its marriage with an 8-speed electronic transmission and paddle shifters is a match made in heaven.

Its CVT is a high-torque genius. Capparella even goes so far as to say that “it’s one of the few CVTs we’ve sampled that somewhat convincingly executes simulated shifts as you accelerate.” And its 27 MPG highway rating is top in its class.

Dampening is nice, too; body sway is limited and controlled through corners, and the light steering is surprisingly full of feedback. Fitted with large 20-inch wheels, the 2019 Ascent is well equipped to handle rough-and-tumble scenarios, too.

Essentially, the world is your oyster with a responsive SUV like the Ascent, so throttle around Birmingham with confidence.

The Safety Bar Has Been Raised

The huge array of features is great, but it’s Subaru’s EyeSight Driver Assist Technology that makes the 2019 Ascent one of the best new SUVs in America. EyeSight monitors traffic movement, optimizes cruise control, and sounds alarms when diverging from a lane. Further reducing rear-end crashes and injuries by 85%, the Ascent’s Pre-Collision Braking hits the pedal to bring you to a complete stop when collisions are detected. Talk about family safety.

For the first time ever, Subaru has made EyeSight standard in an entry-level trim. That means you can feel safe and secure in any Ascent SUV, including the base model, Premium, Limited, and Touring models.
